Trollbeads is an exquisite set of interchangeable jewellery pieces which let you create your own look. At the heart of the collection are the beads themselves. Each piece in the Trollbeads collection has its own little history, taking its inspiration from mythology, astrology, fairy tales, fauna, flora, cultural diversity, and last but certainly not least, in the familiar things of everyday living.
Trollbeads jewellery includes beads, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and rings. The jewellery has a wide range of collections that let you tell your own story through the beads and accessories.
The name Trollbeads refers to the first beads which resembled troll faces and were designed by Søren Nielsen in 1976.
I THINK IT IS GREAT THATPEOPLE TAKE OUR TROLLBEADSAND MAKE THEM THEIR OWN.I LIKE TO THINK THAT THETROLLBEADS ACT AS AN INVISIBLEADHESIVE IN PEOPLE'S MESSAGESTO THE WORLD…"
Lise Aagaard,Designer & founder of Trollbeads
Trollbeads are inspired by mythology, astrology, fairy tales, fauna, flora, cultural diversity, and the familiar things of everyday life. What each piece does have in common, though, is that:
- Each one is an original- Every piece of jewellery is made from the highest quality materials available- Every piece is consistently made to the highest possible standardsIt
is this diversity that gives the customer the unique experience. They become the designer when they create their own personalized jewellery and they decide which story they want to tell. Women in more than 50 countries have discovered this original jewellery concept which, while meeting demands for high quality, still satisfies individual tastes and preferences.
How are Trollbeads being made?
The glass beads are each individually handmade. Watch this movie of Lise Aagaard demonstrating different techniques:
The amber beads are all hand cut and carved, watch this movie to see how the magic happens:
See how an idea becomes part of the collection. The idea often starts on paper and is then sculptured in wax. Next step is the casting process which begins with a plaster model. The wax is then melted out and silver is replaced. After, the silver bead is cooled and removed from the cast. The cleaning process begins, to make the bead ready for oxidization. The oxidation process is actually the natural tarnish process that air has on silver, just speeded up. The oxidized bead is then washed and polished in a tumbler. The silver prototype is now finished and a new bead is born.
Trollbeads are made of the highest quality raw materials, and have evolved from the beginning to be only in sterling silver to now include 18 karat gold, freshwater pearls and gemstones - and last but certainly not least the beautiful and fantastic glass beads made from Italian glass. The gold and silver Trollbeads are modelled using the so called 'cire perdu' or 'lost wax' method. This 3,000 year old technique allows for fine details to be reproduced from wax to precious metals. While glass Trollbeads all are hand made from red-hot glass in the open flame.Where are they produced?
Trollbeads are produced all over the world; from Denmark and Germany to eastern Europe, USA, and China. We find business partners who have the best product knowledge and often find this in cultures where there is a tradition and understanding for the materials being used.
Design is what drives Trollbeads and is the key focus point. It is the designers who create the Trollbeads collection; they use the highest-quality material and craftsmanship to set Trollbeads apart from its competitors. Today, more than 50 designers have contributed to designing Trollbeads.
Designers with a variety of backgrounds, philosophies, experiences, thoughts, and dexterity, some have a knack for geometric designs; some excel in the creation of light and shadow; some have a talent for daring combinations and dazzling play of colours, while others excel in the creation of animals, mythological figures and trolls.Trollbeads have won international artistic recognition and have been exhibited at Sculpture Objects & Functional Art in Chicago and New York.
